Got CHESS?
Quite often people come to my conference booth and ask if I carry chess sets. My answer has always been "No, you can buy a chess set anywhere - we are a specialty store". Well, that has all changed with the addition of the following two games which are certainly NOT your 'run of the mill' chess games. CHECK 'em out!
Imagine a square chess board. Take the corners on your opponents side of the board and stretch them around to meet in front of you, leaving an arrangement of your pieces in a tight circle in the center of the newly formed circle and your opponents pieces around the outer edge of the circle. This is Noble Celts. No more side edges. This enables a piece to be moved off the "edge" of the once square board, only to reappear on the other edge. Wrap your brain around that concept. FANTASTIC game with a whole new dimension in strategy. The rules of European Chess remain the same. It is recommended to duplicate moves on a traditional chess board the first few times you play °Ü°
Beautiful 26"x26" faux leather playing board, 32 original cast resin chess pieces, and instructions. Ages 8 to adult.

Tic Tac Chec
Tic Tac Chec was designed as a training tool to teach traditional chess piece moves, but makes a wonderful game for everyone. Each player has a rook, knight, bishop and pawn. Using traditional chess moves, be the first to arrange your pieces in a row vertically, horizonatally or diagonally. Wooden board and pieces fit nicely into the zippered case making it easy to take anywhere!

Teacher's Edition, Student Workbook, & complete Trilogy available
I have never been more excited than to be able to announce the addition of Amelia Harper's fabulous literature analysis of J.R.R. Tolkien's famous Lord of the Rings trilogy to our BRAIN-athon Emporium product line!
Literary Lessons from The Lord of the Rings offers highschoolers a full credit course that offers fill-in-the-blank summary sheets (with page references for the compatible paperback or hardback versions of the trilogy), vocabulary exercises, literary devices, tests, quizzes, comprehension questions, writing assignments, and Unit Studies covering Tolkien, CS Lewis, Arthurian Legends, Beowulf, Shakespeare, Hobbit & Elven poetry, and more! She intricately weaves in additional notes from Tolkien's letters, notes, and other books to give fullness to the story of the Fellowship that has been loved by many.
Your highschoolers will walk away with a better understanding of Tolkien the professor, writer, linguist, and lover of Middle Earth. They will also see how Hollywood license lends itself to shortcuts, character substitutions, and other liberties that will strengthen your students' appreciation for the written word directly from the author's pen over the theatrical freedom that is moviedom.
So get ready to enter Middle Earth, join the Fellowship, and fall in love with reading Tolkien's LOTR Trilogy.
NOTE: My 10 year old joined us with his own workbook. While I did not assign him some of the more intensive writing assignments, he completed all of the workbook activities, did a few of the writing assignments that he insisted on doing, and read the entire trilogy. Thanks, Amelia!
